How to Overcome

“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death.” (Proverbs 14:27, NASB95)In this world of sin, we have many temptations, traps, and snares all around us.  Each of us encounter these every day of our lives.  Sin’s appeal may change varieties as we move from one stage of life to another, but its appeal never goes away while we live in this fallen world.  We pray “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven,” looking forward to the day when Christ reigns on earth and the old serpent, the Devil, is chained away and unable to deceive the nations.  Until then, however, how can we overcome?To think that you can overcome in your own power is the devil’s deception.  You must rely on the Holy Spirit to dwell in you and empower you to overcome.  By the power of Christ through the Spirit you can be an overcomer.  And this scripture tells us that “the fear of the Lord” will help us “avoid the snares.”The next time (it won’t be long!) that temptation comes your way, be reminded how much God hates sin, and how disappointed He will be if you participate in sin.  Be reminded that “God is not mocked” and “whatever a man sows, that also will he reap.”  May the fear of disappointment coupled with the fear of punishment allow you to “avoid the snares of death.”In His Grace,Dr. Randy WhiteClick here for our FREE DVD on the Antichrist!
